Got a sweet tooth, Makhanas got you covered. Makhana Kheer or Pudding tastes amazing and can be prepared in few simple steps. Makhanas are great source of nutrients and when included in kheer with milk the nutrient level increases manyfold. Therefore, this delicacy is eaten by many during fasts and festivals.
Ingredients:
- Desi Ghee – 2 to 3 Tbsp.
- Fox nuts – 1 cup
- Cashews – 10-12 nos. (Cut into pieces)
- Almonds – 10-12 nos. (Cut into pieces)
- Milk – 2cup (500ml)
- Cardamom Powder: ½ tsp.
- Sugar: 4 Tbsp.
- Condensed milk: half cup (Optional)
Method:
- In a pan add the desi ghee and roast the makhanas and cashews in it. Keep stirring until the cashews are little brown and makhanas are crisp.
- Coarsely grind the makhanas in grinder or cut into small pieces with help of knive. Keep half cup makhanas as is for garnishing purpose.
- Now in a pan add the milk and bring it to a boil.
- After the first boil keep the flame on low to medium and keep stirring the milk.
- Add Sugar or for more creamier taste add the Condensed milk. If you are using the condensed milk just keep in mind to reduce the quantity of sugar.
- Add the grinded makhanas to the milk and keep stirring at low flame.
- Once the makhanas are cooked add cardamom powder, cashews and Almonds. And also add the remaining makhanas.
- Serve hot.
